Misquoted — Free Quote Game for Road Trips
Misquoted is a quote game that turns famous lines into a quick group competition. One player reads a near-famous quote aloud with one word subtly changed. Everyone else races to shout the correct version. Misquoted is the lightest game in the road trip category and the best warm-up between heavier games.
How Misquoted plays
Open Misquoted on a phone. The screen shows the misquoted line; the holder reads it aloud once. Other players have one chance each to shout the corrected quote. The first correct answer earns the point. If no one gets it, the answer is revealed. Players rotate the phone each round so everyone gets a turn reading.
Modes
- 10-round mode — fast, ~5 minutes total. Great for short drives or warm-ups.
- 25-round mode — full session, ~15 minutes. The standard road trip mode.
- Daily mode — one curated puzzle per day for solo play.
Why Misquoted is fun
Reading a famous quote with one word wrong creates an immediate mental itch — the line sounds nearly right, but the brain knows something is off. The race to remember the original is what makes Misquoted competitive. The catalog mixes film, literature, music, speeches, and pop culture so different generations can win different rounds.
Tips for higher scores
- The changed word is usually a small one — a verb tense, a pronoun, or a near-synonym. Replaying the line in your head before shouting helps you catch it.
- If you do not recognize the quote, guess based on the structure. Misquoted's catalog leans toward iconic, well-known lines.
- Take turns reading. Players who hold the phone too long miss the chance to score.
