How to Play Spot The Difference — Rules & Strategy Guide
Spot The Difference is a free daily visual puzzle where you compare two illustrated scenes and find five changed details. The rules are simple, but the timer and wrong-click penalty make careful scanning more valuable than random tapping.
The core rules
- Each daily puzzle has two similar scenes.
- Five details are different between Picture A and Picture B.
- You have 90 seconds to find all five differences.
- Each wrong click subtracts five seconds.
- The answer screen reveals the hidden difference zones after the run.
What counts as a difference
A difference can be a missing object, an extra object, a size change, a color change, a shape change, or a count change. The game avoids ultra-tiny pixel hunts; the challenge is noticing meaningful scene details under time pressure.
Recommended scan order
- Sky and top edge: sun, moon, clouds, birds, signs, and roof details.
- Center objects: windows, doors, trees, furniture, and scene props.
- Ground line: flowers, shadows, paths, wheels, and small repeated objects.
Strategy
- Do one calm scan before the first click. The first wrong tap is the easiest to avoid.
- Count repeated details. Many misses come from assuming three flowers are still three flowers.
- Look for round-versus-square changes in windows, signs, and buttons.
- On mobile, zoom the browser before tapping a suspicious small detail.
